A Year of Sketchbookery

Latest Post The Hound of the Baskervilles by Owen Soule

Since we’re closing in on the end of the year, I thought it would be good to take time and reflect. Not on world events, not even on life altering events, no good folks, it’s time to reflect on me and my sketches. Because after all, isn’t that what’s really important? Starting sometime in January I began sketching pretty regularly, and while most of my sketches are pretty horrible, occasionally I happen on something that I consider web-worthy and upload it to the “cloud”. If you haven’t guessed already, that’s what this post is all about.

Many of my sketches are drawn from the Croquis Cafe life modeling videos created by onairvideo. They’re a great resource and you definitely check them out if you’re doing any kind of figure drawing, also donate so they keep up the good work, you lousy bum! The rest of the sketches are mishmash of stupid cartoons, concepts, and even some drawings that made their way into various blog posts throughout the year.

In the interest of having a thumbnail image for this post, here is a drawing of Mr. Hyde (Dr. Jekyll's crazy half) based on a 1980’s Marvel Universe comic:

Obviously Mr. Hyde is... TRIGGERED!

Ok, you've waiting long enough, my 2016 sketches can be found here: https://www.souledesigns.com/sketchbook/2016

Be sure to scroll down as there are quite a few, also clicking on an image opens a shadowbox popup of that image - yes, that’s the programmer in me endlessly fiddling with menial shit. Anyway, my goal is to have a sketch recap like this each year - so tune in the same time next year for another round. For now, enjoy!
